I couldn't believe how this film seemed to work better than all the other brands out there. Has anyone tried this stuff? Ya, ya, I know Royal Purple conducted the test so it's somewhat skewed but still....

Royal Purple Max Film? Where can I get some in Canada?

Video: It's about 3/4 through the episode.

Well worth watching.

They test out different lube oils by loading a bearing and seeing how the lube performs with more and more weight. It seems that once the bearing heats up, the particles start to somehow bind into the metal and create a film to keep the bearing lubricated.

I don't get too jacked up about oil companies and their test results. For example the 4-ball test Amsoil uses to tout the superiority of their oils is kind of a farce. The 4-ball wear test was devloped by GM mainly for the sake of backwards compatibility of old engines which are still on the market, but not on-the-shelf for testing anymore.

Mobil's response to the Amsoil test:

Too many people fuss and waste money on designer oil when a quality mineral or basic synthetic will do.
