Hey I was wondering if anyone has taken scuba lessons in Calgary. Any feedback?
I was thinking of getting scuba lessons for husband for xmas.
Thanks!

Did mine at Adventures in Scuba on Macleod. Would recommend.

Might be a dumb question, but the pools they use, are they just plain pools or is there stuff to see on the bottom of the pools?

The one at Adventures is a 20' deep tank with a 4' shallow end. Not too much on the bottom. Cert dives are done at Minewanka or one of the lakes in town. I did mine during the last week of October about 5 years ago, almost got hypothermia:D

^ I did my open water in Jasper because I didn't want to waste the time while in Mexico (just wanted to do regular dives) but I went begining of Sept and I had to change into a wet suit and get into the water while it was snowing out! lol

Where do people in Calgary go if they want to do their open water locally?

You're so busy trying not to drown half the time that it wouldn't matter if there was stuff to see, haha :) My favourites are the neutral buoyancy tests! Looks so sweet doing the mid water hovering.

I did mine in Hawaii, so no real Cowtown recommendations. However, if he wears prescription glasses, I would suggest buying him a mask with prescription lenses as well. Contacts can get annoying really fast, especially in salt water.
