What's a good place to get some ceramic tile? I'll be redoing my bathroom (shower, backsplash and floors) and kitchen backsplash tile, etc.

Looking for a place with lots of selection. Not like the crap you pick through at revy or home depot where there's 5 selections you might like.

Found Apex tile down south which might be good but I don't want to drive all over the city sourcing tile if I can get some recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

You'll get the most selection right from the wholesaler's showrooms. Apex and stores like that are just retailers and will only carry a portion of their suppliers.

You can go to the showrooms of:

Julian Tile, Euro Tile, Ames...they're all in the area north of Frank Scissons Casino. Then also at Dal Tile, #11 3201 OGDEN RD S.E And then Tierra Sol @ 5746 Burleigh Cres SE (in behind 58th and Blackfoot)

I have accounts with all of those distributors and can get you between 10 and 20% off of the retail price. Bear in mind that the prices are quite a bit higher than what you'll find at Home Depot, Rona, etc. But the quality of tile is quite a bit higher, as well, as its all "current". A lot of the Big box stores have discontinued tile...hence the cheaper price. Some of the wholesalers will carry a "builders series" which is quite reasonable..ie: $2.49/sq ft for 13x13 porcelain

email me if you have any other questions: [email protected]

Great. Thanks a lot. I will head out to those places tomorrow. We're just starting the tear out then assessments by furnace guys, plumbers and electricians. I'll email you when I have an idea of what I find/want.

Again, this will be a retailer who buys from the same suppliers I do. In fact I think Maple Leaf just uses one wholesaler..but I could be wrong. Your biggest selection will be from the wholesalers themselves.

Didn't get a chance to get down there, had to meet with plumber, electrician and furnace guy. I'm guessing we're a ways off before I need to pick up some tile. But I'll definitely let you know.

Thanks again.

If you know a tile contractor see if he can buy the tiles for you.

They usually get a big discount from the suppliers they deal with.

Our tile guy saved us 40% on our tiles.

Go to City Carpets, they have many selections and best prices in town! One located in the Northeast and on in Northwest in Crowfoot!

Uhh...that's what I am. A Tile Contractor.(Of 28 yrs) If he wants me to do the install, ill give him 40 off as well. Here's a little tip though. If he says he's giving you his "cost"(40 off is standard for everyone) he'll tack a few points on and build it into the labour price. If someone just wants to buy some tile and no labour he'll likely throw it right onto the price of the tile. And depends on how much tile is purchased too.

And City Tile is a retailer (again) they buy from the same ppl I do, and get the exact same discount.
