???
Meaning its a kit car???
Looks amazingly authentic to me!
edit*
I was looking around for different years,.. Looks like this would be a 1957 300sl. Seems to be the only year of the round headlights combined with the side vents like that.
Either way,.. very pimp car!!

Regardless, minty freeeesh.

I would kill for that car. Imagine having that parked beside and Austin Martin DB5, the original James Bond classic? That would be the start a beautiful collection!

Nice spot pics!
Scat19 was referring to the fact that the beyonder in question was full of shit and had no relation to the car whatsoever.

My parents financial planner drives a gullwing. I thought he was full of it until I saw him on one of those segments with ShawTV a while back.

Yeah. It is a kit car.
My brother in law and I were actually talking to him at the Copperfield CO-OP gas station on the weekend (he also has a 1953 190SL convertible) and was talking about the kit car as well.
Apparently the kit car came out of California and originally had an MB 6 cyl engine in it. However it was replaced with a small block Chevy engine for more power.
Nevertheless, he is still a pretty cool old guy that is really friendly.

Also for ease of parts replacement and cost to maintain it.
