290i in power stroke deisel

guys i have a 1998 ford f250 with powerstroke deisel motor truck has a command start 290i in it that works great i have a manual that came with it but i don't think the cold start feature was turned on when it was programmed. When i follow steps in the book: press button 1 then 2 then both the light flash 4 times.If i do it again i get the same result. on page 16 it says how to program this feature but my unit does not have an l.e.d like they talk about. I really need this as it's way cold....i talked to the shop that put it in up here but they said they don't have anyone left that knows anything about a unit that old.
