City Hall Tries to Increase Race City's Rent by 3,000%...and Other Nonsense

Hey guys

This is the real story about what City Hall is doing to Race City. I'm afraid my colleagues at the other media got it wrong on this story. I talked to McIver and Art Mackenzie and I have a copy of the City's lease proposal...unbelieveable. You gotta read this.

Race City sucks.

The fact that it is on leased land will forever keep it as a crappy track that gets only the bare minimum maintenance.

Well for now its all we have, and i think most car enthusiasts in Calgary would rather have race city than nothing at all.

Unfortunately the existence of Race City is holding back private investors from building a better track that is NOT on leased city land.

So in the long run it would be better for Race City to go away and the racing void will eventually be filled by someone actually willing to build a GOOD track.

A couple years of pain for long term gain.

Fort Macleod and Drumheller are building tracks, but it would be nice to have one right at the city.
