Was helping and tuning 3 customer/friends cars.... Derek's Awesome GT500 was the one that got most the attention.
This was the "big event"... the Street Car Super Nationals.
Big names were there, like Glidden, Urist, Spetter was tuning Keenans car, Petty was tuning another car etc...
In Extreme Drag Radial, Derek ended the weekend with second best MPH, and third best ET. 7.42 at 199.8 mph in the quarter.... the record in Vegas in that class is 7.2 @ 208. His car got faster every run as we "figured out" how aggressively we could apply the power and where on the drag radials.
HUGE HUGE thank-You to Jason at Epic Welding for the beautiful last minute fab work on the DUAL 5" muffled exhaust!! (and my railing?? ;) )
So first lets go through the casualties I remember... 2 turbos, a fuel pump, a transmission tail housing and yoke, then a transmission front seal, then a torque converter, then a 02 sensor, and what finally put Derek on the trailer... a fucking STARTER! lol
Derek's car has MAXED his 160# injectors, we had to run 120 psi to deliver the fuel we needed. The HP calculators say at his weight of 3540, the car is ABOUT 2300 hp!
Paul's had electrical gremlins all weekend, then with the smaller 97mm turbo installed, it managed its only 'clean' pass of 177 mph in the quarter, spinning HARD off the line, lifting, and then getting back into it! To figure otu his glitch, after the track was closed, Paul had to take the car on the street for some test passes... he put her SIDEWAYS through all 3 gears down a industrial road next to the track, only a couple feet away from some barricades! What do you expect with 1500+ hp on the street with drag radials??? :drool: :thumbsup:
