i was looking into getting my gf a remote starter for christmas and i was wondering where you can get a BASIC remote starter (just a 2 button on/off type thing) bought and installed for a reasonable (very cheap) price. Her car is a 93 mazda 323 auto with no fancy key chip or anything. i called mr detail by my house and he quoted 400$ which i find outrageous cuz im sure on her car it would literally be a 30 min job. and i would try and DIY but i dont think she would like that, lol. And i also think that mr detail at that time was offering a 99$ remote start promo, meaning he wants 300$ for labour, LOL
so are there any shops that wont gouge me on a starter + labour?

Visions South.
AS1775 Autostart for $188 installed.
Includes basic labour of the starter itself.
Our basic shop parts charge is $10 here in Medicine Hat, not sure what it is there.
Then add tax of course.
Gets you two remotes with 2200 ft of range.
Does have the lock and unlock button on it, but doesnt need to be
hooked up if you dont want that option (or have that option).
Highly recommend that unit for sure.

149 at futureshop. For a Nordic that will do 2200 ft. Shop supply is only 5 bucks. Plus tax.

most places like best buy, visions, futureshop, etc.....
all post prices that include BASIC install meaning that depending on the type of vehicle you have prices can shoot up to $200 extra, this is due to having a chipped key.
example. Autostart AS1775 188 BASIC install
Add $10 for shop supplies and another $100-$200 for newer cars that require transponder bypass' door locks, trunk, Manual transmission, or diesel
I-Datalink is a brand that we use for installs and they cost around $80-$100
