With the talisman centre closing in the new year (well shutting pretty much down, no free weights) any suggestions for a new gym that is nearby? Any good downtown gyms?

Thanks

Kavie

I was just about to get a membership at the Talisman....can someone explain what is happening to them please? I don't want to get a membership and then have them close down.

Thanks

The roof is being replaced next year. They're doing reduce service etc during renos.

I see. So is their gym going to be effected then I guess? Maybe I should look elsewhere. I just need a basic Gym with elliptical trainers, free weights, and a few machines but everything I've found has been so damn expensive compared to the Talisman.

So just the downstairs part of TC will be open? Everything that was upstairs along the basketball courts will shutdown till the reno is done?? Is that correct?

Does anything know if the swimming area will be affected during the reno's?

What's a good place to swim in the city?

I really liked Talisman Centre. The Eau Claire YMCA is okay but the City of Calgary pools having very restricted time periods of when there is public swimming..

Or get a job at Suncor and use their gym. $10 a paycheck and it's similar to an executive club with towel service and everything. Equipment is in pristine condition and free classes. It's not as big as the other ones but hey, what more can you expect for $10 a paycheck. A friend took me there and it's awesome!

because we can all get jobs at suncor. i think all the layoffs they just did might give us a better chance
