I am having trouble trying to find a knife sharpening set for my dad, anyone know of a place that sells good quality stones with a guide?

Every place I look either just has the stones or an automatic sharpener, no guide. My dad is more of the hands on type and would rather do it himself with a stone. I do want him to use a guide as I don't want him to butcher the knives I bought for him last Christmas.

There is really no budget, just want to stay away from online purchases as this will be a Christmas gift. I would rather not deal with the issue of it not arriving on time.

Have you looked at the Spyderco Sharpmaker?

Lee Valley tools sells quite a few different sets, and the books.

They are down by the south Costco, good prices and great quality.

KnifeWear in Inglewood is good. Alot of the chefs in Calgary source their work knives from these guys.

They'll also teach you to sharpen properly on a wet stone, etc.
