Whoo! After 5 years, my 2004 Outlander has finally hit the 100k milestone:

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n205/dj_flipster/IMG00005-20091210-2242.jpg

I'm posting because it's quite a thrill knowing that you helped put 100,000 km's into this car (original family car) from day one and it's actually my first car EVER, so it's even more special; learned how to drive with this car, first ever cross-border drive to California, first ever road trips with friends...

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n205/dj_flipster/DSC00613.jpg

It's a fun ride and I love it!

Now is it weird to get this feeling or did anybody else get this feeling when they first started driving?

LOL What?!

But it's awesome knowing that it still works well after you've driven it! At least mine does (regular tune-ups and synthetic oil rule.)

Those were memorable km's!

Hopefully.

Clearly you do a rollback on the odo, do a RHD conversion and sell it as JDM with original mileage.

The winter beater is headed for 200k before the winter is over, but we bought it with 181,000km on it so that doesn't really count. I passed 100,000km in our golf (bought it new), passed 400,000km in my old subaru wagon (bought with 290,000km on it) and passed 300,000km in my old mazda 626 (bought with 221,000km on it).

Milestones are nice, but hitting 100,000km hurts. That is the first mark where you begin to realize your car that felt brand new for the last 100,000km is getting old.... the first thing i want to do when it happens is get rid of it. Once you pass 100,000km and start hitting 200,000km and 300,000km it feels like a sense of accomplishment, but the first one hurts :(

I realize that past this milestone is going to be an uphill battle and things will eventually snap/pop/break (knock on wood.)

Maybe because it's the first time I've seen this but it feels like an accomplishment.

My first car is about to hit 100K. I wish I had something good to say about it, but it's an effing Aveo, so no... I don't.
I would sell the car but the damn thing isn't worth anything. So I guess I will hold on to it and drive it into the ground.

Although, in 100K nothing serious has ever broken, so I am down with that.

100,000 km is phuck-all.

My old man used to say that any idiot can get 100,000 MILES out of a car, it's the second 100,000 miles that shows how well you took care of your car.

The vehicle I learned to drive on had 260,000 miles on it when I got it. It was sold a few years later with 300,000 miles. The guy bought it to pull the motor to drop into another vehicle :nut:

'75 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser with a 455 ci. The guy was going to drop the motor into a 1/2 ton truck.

I don't believe to date I've have any car hit any milestone, I average keeping them only about 4-6 months. But my baby now is at 198xxx, I look forward to seeing it hit 200,000 it's still puuurrfect hahaha. I think it's actually my highest "original" mileage car to date. All the JDM stuff... you just never know, so they don't count. End of next year I can register and insure it as a "Classic" haha woot!

I thought it was 25 years old. But some insurance companies (Meloche told me this) that the car has to be original and unmodified.

I'm pretty certain it's 20. I was just having this convo with a guy at the gas station who has the same car. His was insured as a classic already.

I can't wait for the cheaper rates :D

Hey, the lower the better. If it's 20.... one more year and I'll get cheaper insurance.

just a not on the classic insurance.

There is certain rules and regs when you are insuring as a classic. I know you are limited to amount of KM you are allowed to drive, and it is not that many. there is a whole bunch of oter shitty rules too.

If it has the 3800 series engine in it, it may never die. Those engines are solid solid solid.

2009 Mazda 3 (new) , owned 5 months, driven for 3 months, 19,xxx on the clock...

1987 Jag, now sitting around 53K

My Taurus suffered with mileage the most. I only owned her 2 years and put 195k on it. That girl was a trooper!

May father put 110 on his 2003 Avalanche (when it was new) the first/only year he owned it.

makes me wonder how people ever can lease a car... Really? lol

How did you put 195xxx kms on a car in 2 years! That's nuts... that's like 250kms a day average. Or $23,400 in gas! That's a part time job just to pay for gas hahaha.

My first car had over 300,000 kms and it still ran strong. Couldn't handle the lack of power options so went with a newer car.

My car hi 100k about 4 days ago!! ahh shit, now its a high mileage car.

Lived in Strathmore, GF in the deep SW of Calgary, school in Chestermere, and part-time job in Strathmore. Really easy to rack up that many kms! Plus weekends always put on a lot of kms, you know...

And yes, between part time work, and allowances, i was basically paying for fuel. Which was around 60 cents/litre back then. lol

my 89 S13 had almost 350,000KM on the original motor in it when I bought it. I swapped it for a DOHC at around 355, the SOHC was still in good condition. The SOHC got put in another 240 that's around town, and it's still kicking. :nut:

Sorry to bump an old thread of mine, but I'm still gathering parts for my tune-up. Please tell me if I forgot to replace something as I want to keep the car in tip-top shape:

- Timing belt
- Balancer belt(?; is this it?: https://www.evo-parts.co.uk/eshop/images/products/11_03620.gif)
- Hydraulic tensioner/adjuster
- Water pump

Mind you, I got this list from Platinum Mitsubishi as a recommended list to replace and I'll be researching books, YT, etc. on how to replace them.

I had a '92 Eagle summit as a winter beater that had 770,000 on it before I got rid of it. Nothing was wrong with it and it ran like new. Burnt no oil and shifted smooth as butter. $35 for 580km....

700,000...900,000... the f0k? wow

my first car = 94 accord. got it for free from a couple that were just being nice, I'm about 1400 km's away from hitting 200k. My friend has a 95 accord and he's close to 500k. Both auto's, I'm hoping to last just as long... got some important things fixed, last thing that needs fixing is the front outer CV boots. Starting to here that clicking sound. FFF then its a matter of changing oil and hoping nothing breaks.

no, mine was white and a 2wd, it did have the 2.8V6 though, that engine is indestructible. Surprised to see the 4x4 drivetrain last that long.

Im looking at buying another S10, if hes selling it let me know, provided its not too rusty that is.
