iPod touch 2nd gen or 3rd gen?

just curious how i can tell the difference between the two, buying them brand new. do all the new ones come with the headphones with mic and remote?

I meant the way they are packaged, their both packaged the same, any way to read the labels and tell the difference.

anything bought in a store now:

8gb = 2nd
32gb & 64gb = 3rd

no such thing as 8gb 3rd

that's what i've read like a month ago. don't know if it still holds true.

2nd Gen and 3rd Gen are identical in every way I believe, 2nd Gen Ipod touch are able to update to a 3rd Gen OS (3.0) which enables bluetooth connectivity.
