Hey all I"m out of town right now and while leaving the in-laws place I noticed me brake lights weren't working. I've pulled into a gas station and checked the fuses for the brake lights and it was blown, so I changed it out but they still aren't coming on...
Car is a 2004 mazda6 v6 any help would be great as I'm 400 km from home right now.
Ps tail lights still work just not the brake lights

The switch that activates when you press the brake pedal has probably failed.

Is your bulb a dual filament?

I could give you some advise but with out seeing the car it makes pinning the issue harder.

water may have sipped through the tail light assy. the fuse box under the steering wheel is shorted, check all other fuses.

is there any ABS/TCS lights on? (i had this issue with my RX-8, all brake lights didn't work) you might have a broken wire harness. this will blow your fuese and the bulbs.

Check the rear break buld if they are burnet.

i hope this helps
