I admit the title on the article is misleading because it looks more like the STi provided enough traction to get that big ass truck moving again.

That driver has balls though, I would never do that if I had an STi lol.

Might as well just go drive your car into a wall. :banghead:

Nice to be a good Samaritan sometimes, but this is just stupid.

"Don't worry about a wrecker. If you see a blue sedan with gold wheels and a giant wing, and it growls, that's all we need..."

Chalk me up as another person that would wait for a vehicle that was a bit more suitable though.

looked like the semi just needed a nudge - but really, the car is NOT meant to be pulling 30,000lb.s

I'm gonna go ahead and say fake without watching the video. The comments are effing hilarious though.

An STi has, what, 300 hp or thereabouts? I'd bet that semi has about the same hp.

That's pretty funny. If I was the owner, I'll try sending it to Subaru and may be make some money.

Now try it again with a Vespa for giggles.

I've heard of STi's towing pick-ups out of ditches all the time and getting up hills that nothing else could but this is  poor Tranny in that car

They would just call him an idiot, then void his warranty.

yea he really only gave it a little shove out, we did the same thing a shepard landfill with a company pick up truck to pull out a a huge dump truck that was stuck, tied it to a little pickup and tugged it out, no prob.

But i bet the sti owner had the smuggest grin on his face

I am not physicist, but wouldn't the STi simply break traction before it would likely cause even moderate damage to the drivetrain?

Why is everyone saying poor tranny and that car isn't meant to pull 30,000lbs? The Subaru's wheels were spinning on ice so the power train would not have felt any more strain then the driver simply flooring it with no trailer and spinning his tires that way. The tires will only provide so much traction on ice and that traction will not come close to over stressing the power train. Besides, the truck was still trying to go and the Subaru simply gave it that little extra and as soon as the truck started to move at all it's own power would have been plenty. As a side note though I would have a different opinion if this was done on dry roads.

Pretty cool.

If your going to be doing things like this, or trashing it going through ditches and shit, you better be prepared to anti-up some funds and put in those garage hours.

Worth it IMO!

Yeah that comment cracked me up. Sure they may have the same horsepower but the truck has an extra 1500 ft/lbs of torque.LOL The truck driver likely could have tried a higher gear (3rd or 4th) and some revs and got the same result.

Subbies are starting to grow on me lately, even before this video.
