Pretty sure it's a liquor regulation that stores can't be open on Christmas day. Hopefully you didn't get piss drunk last night expecting the stores to be open today because you've got a party to go to tonight... Much like I did :rofl:

BUSINESS HOURS
3.1.1 The retail liquor store may set its hours of operation between
the maximum allowable hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m.,
Monday through Sunday. Stores may operate reduced

operation.
3.1.3 Stores must remain closed on Christmas Day.

I drove by a liquor store on Edmonton trail, just past the starbucks on memorial, and it was open.
