hello,
I don't post much but here it goes.
I want to start taking photos of nature and the kind of thing but I don't know much about cameras. I was thinking about purchasing a Nikon D40.

if anyone has any advice for a beginner that would be great.

cheers

mike

This will get moved to the photography section soon most likely.

Anyways, there is far too much to talk about to give you general advice, especially if you're just getting started. Get on the internet and start reading, its all there. A D40 or similar is a fine camera for learning on. Read about stuff online, try it out yourself, interpret results, and repeat. Easiest way to learn IMO.

Here is one place to start for the very basics. Just Google around and you will find many similar websites. http://www.photography101.org/
