The brand the T & T up here carries is a Chinese one and it doesn't taste very good, its more fat than actual fleshy meat on the eel, but still mmmm mm goodness

Recipes for cooking it?Ummmm for one, its already marinated in some kinda teriyaki sauce, 2nd, its already pre-cooked. So hmm good recipe, throw it in the oven for 15 mins to re-heat and eat. Thats a pretty good recipe

We do eel at Christmas and buy it at the Italian Supermarket.
Batter and fried in Olive Oil.They only stock it seasonally and you have to fillet it yourself.

Aren't they all Chinese....? I've yet to see one from another place (though the one in the OP's pic looks to be from Taiwan. I would think even most of the unagi from Japan is imported from China as well.

This man speaks the truth, most Unagi is from China. I just bought 4 packs of it from the chinese grocery store (Lambda) on center street, just before 16th ave, new asia market has it too. Lambda had it for 4.99, bought 4 :D

My wife is Japanese and the main dish we use this with is Rice mixed in sushi vinegar as base (cold), then on top we put cut avacado, egg, cucumber strips and unagi. Tastes fantastic. Everything is cold but Unagi.
