Hmm, this should be interesting. Maybe a larger Touch? Who knows. Maybe it'll replace the Macbook? Or it could be a ebook reader.

Its been rumoured for the last few months. People were actually expecting it during the last presentation that Apple gave, but it didn't show up.

But the name 'iSlate' is probably pretty certain even though they bought 'TabletMac' from Axiotron:

Its the new ibook (ebook reader) as anticipated after the growth of ereaders from Sony and Amazon. Should be quite interesting as it won't be an eInk technology. I have the one from Sony and it's nice... can't wait to see how technology is going to make these products even better while retaining battery life and weight.

Totally :D

Apparently the new iphone isn't gonna be out until June/July which is a long wait but oh well.
About the tablet they have it in the newspapers today, although no suggestions in regards to pricing has been made yet. But I am guessing we should be seeing it sometime soon.

Id like to use it to control what i watch on TV, start and stop movies and then for a sound system as well.

I knew that apple was going to make a tablet someday, I doubt it would replace the macbook pro though, can't wait until it gets released so I can try it out at the apple store.

Jan 26th there is a big Apple conference, likely the Tablet will be officially announced and shown. I suspect we will also see version 4.0 of the Iphone OS and possibly a new iPhone.

No, but some customization would be nice..and maybe support for widgets, the OS is really behind the newer ones now in that regard.

j.lai
01-09-2010, 05:30 PM
yeah, widgets seems to be the future today. But with the addition of widets, it would kind of destroy the iphone/itouch theme.

good find!

I knew that Apple will be improving the memory coming since the 3GS introduced the 32G and video call isn't that big of a hit in North America, only in Asia/Europe.

I guess the major changes are the removable battery and the multitasking.

Wonder what the new look will be :dunno:

Damn, if the iPhone really comes with a duel processor then it's all over for everyone else really.

And video chat could go mainstream in NA if it's done right. Just like visual voicemail. Before iPhone voice mail was a real hassle and no one used it, now it's so easy to use it works well.

Multi tasking, 5 mp camera, and better processor and hopefully way better battery life and I'm good. Only thing is the wait I guess. I'm still on my 3G from a year ago and hopefully this comes out within the next 6 months.

Yup, voicemail was a PTA before visual voicemail.

I'd be content for a while if those upgrades are true... here's a rendering I just found.

All things other phones have been doing for some time now. Keep innovating Apple.

;)

I am more interested in the 4.0 version of the OS, see what they add to existing iPhones. My next phone will not be an Apple product.

I was so disappointed with the 3GS, sure they made it better processor wise and stuff, but it looked EXACTLY the same. I just couldn't justify upgrading my 16 gig 3G to that just because of the processor, when after owning it i wouldn't feel any different. And I have tried so many other phones but kept going back to the iphone, so I know I want it, so I am excited to see the new one and hopefully it'll have a complete facelift.

About the Tablet, I thought it was going to be like a proper tablet laptop? Is it that or just an ebook reader like you see the sony one's at best buy and stuff? I am under the impression that it's basically a full fledged laptop with iphone type interface which is all touch screen.

It is not a full fledged tablet but not an ebook reader either. It will their intro into tablet-type segment by competing against the Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader.

I can see their use for graphic designers and such. But at 10" its more of a gimick than anything. I want one for tunning as it will (i hope) fit right in where the owners manual fits in my glovey.

I have a netbook currently and the thing is fucking slow so it will be a replacement for that peice of trash.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but when people talk about this killing the Kindle are they taking into account the screen? The kindle has some sort of electronic paper display that makes it easier on your eyes to actually sit down and read an ebook for a prolonged period of time. This does not. Personally if I were to xfer my entire reading library to an ebook reader I’d probably prefer something like the kindle for a strictly reading application

BigMass

I’ve seen some street surveys where people said that if it doesn’t fit into their pocket they don’t want it. The iphone is probably as big as it’s going to get before people consider it just as inconvenient to carry as a laptop. At that point I’d rather have a laptop. Opinions? This seems to be solving a problem where there isn’t one.

I have. In the form of a 16gb 3GS iphone.

I love apple products. I own a MBP and an iphone. They are innovative, user friendly and styled very well.

The iPad however, is a 8 year long jerk off without actually blowing a load.

My $400 HP mini spanks this thing all around. The only, and i mean ONLY thing it loses in is the touchscreen. But it can be modded for less than the price of a cheap downtown hooker.

This is apples spin on a market that they never even had a pinky in. This product is outpreformed on all fronts in a already fast paced market. The key to competing in the ultra portable netbook/e reader market is to be innovative or affordable. The iPad is neither.

That is just the new Mail application with preview.

That is not multitask.

Pretty disappointing.

I don't know why they say it is the middle ground between the iphone and mbp. more like the ipod touch and the mbp. The only thing it has going for it is 3G built in.

But I can tether my iphone on my mbp and I am miles ahead of the game.

I wonder if it would be possible to tether your iphone to the ipad via bluetooth for network connectivity?

Exactly.... kind of like how you can buy an Acer laptop for half the cost of an entry level Macbook? Same end use, but why do people my the Apple - some are fan boys, some see a greater functionality, etc.

This isn't a new product, it's Apple's stab at the market between a mobile phone and a laptop. More features than a Kindle/Reader, more portable than a netbook (plus 3G) - in theory.

I'm a Apple fan, but I don't have a need for this. If I traveled a lot for work and was in the market for a portable media center, this would be the one.
