It is ofishial, Ken Block (used to be co-owner of DC Shoes, or as most of you know from the Gymkhana series of videos) will be competing in a 2009 spec WRC Focus in select events this year, and switching to a Fiesta for 2010 and 2011.

He will also be competing in the full 6 round Rally America series in a Fiesta (presumably, one similiar to what was ran at X-Games last year). This year is going to be awesome! I would love to compete in some Rally America events this year just to get a closeup look at that beast of a Fiesta :D

Bah, he's a viral marketing tool wrapped in goatee. Crashes too much to ever see a podium.

No more Subaru? Damn. Oh well I hope he does well, but WRC has some heavy competition.

Kenny from the Block is a great showboater, but I don't think he'll have what it takes to do well in WRC.

And by competition you mean Mikko Hirvonen and Sebastian Loeb? Danny Sordo was the CLOSEST at catching those two, and was behind by 30pts in 2009.

What team? Since when did a Factory Subaru team return to WRC? :dunno:

EDIT: Fucking Ford and Citroen are the only two choices? What the hell happened?

EDIT 2: He'll probably have to compete with Kimi too ;)

Do well compared to who? I bet he has pace to compete with Matt Wilson after an event or two. And whats wrong with that? You don't just "become" good!

Haha... I just wanted to try and bust your balls..

But ya, Rally has really struggled, or rather the teams... Top 10 teams in 09 were either Ford Focus or Citreon C5. I only tried to keep up on it last season because of how close the battle between Hirvonen and Loeb was...

Kenny Block eh?

This is going to be like "Days of Thunder" - Rally Edition

He will dominate if he can keep cool-headed and not go through 5 cars/race.

Yes his likes showboat. But from this video, it seems like he can be serious when needs to and is pretty realistic about his own chances. all the best, whatever gets more publicity in NA

It depends on the co-driver. Rallying is all about listening.
If the co-driver knows his left seat is aggressive it is up to him to change the pace notes and keep the driver under control.

If Kenny can't listen to whoever is in the right seat he won't last more than a race or two.

There are some drivers that constantly want to be pushed. A driver that "wants to go faster" and has made up his mind will not listen to advice of slowing down. Of course, if you as a co-driver are like-minded in the desire to go faster, is there actually an issue (besides running out of talent or from the subsequent consequences running out of money if that is an issue)?

For Ken, he appears to have a luxury few have: time and money to do what he wants, when he wants, at the pace he wants :bigpimp:

Will his WRC run be short if he crashes his first two events... I don't know, how many times did Jarri screw up (and not in a small way either) last year? How much money does Ken himself bring to the equation? Monster (the main backer of the team) is looking for pure exposure, which they don't really have at the WRC level. Ken brings a fanbase with him to WRC. Seems win-win whether he crashes or not (crashing is probably a better ROI lol).

I kick his but all the time in Dirt 2 and I am just an average driver. Therefore Ken Block is a below avg driver.

j/k

More americans in WRC is a very good thing. That sport deserves more attention. Awesome racing.
