guys, list your top 3 goals for this coming year and see how much we can accomplish :D

my top 3 for this year is
1. Learn all the buttons on the new camera (I can seriously say that I've learned and used all the features of my old RebelXT and I'm quite proud of that even though it took couple of years LOL)

2. Get involve with more free-lance work. Here in HK, I have plenty of opportunities to turn my hobby into 'some' cash as there are a lot of ppl that like to have their pictures taken... i.e. family shots, wedding snapshots etc...

3. Gain more knowledge on strobes/off camera flash. I've been a natural light guy for a long time, but I think off camera flash will keep me entertain and busy for the upcoming months/years as I know this will be one of the hardest concept to master

Anyway, let's hear yours

1) Focus less on gear (after I get a 70-200VR II, and assuming a 300/4 VR doesn't come out LOL)

2) Take way, way more pictures, and take more dedicated photography trips/outings.

Exactly what I'm going to do. It's great to bring your camera on outings etc. but to take a dedicated day(s)/trip(s) is my goal.

Oh...and to get better with the equipment I have, and not be obsessed with the equipment I don't have and think I need.

The nikon camp calls it NAS...Nikon Acquisition Syndrome...I've got it bad...lol

1. Continue to focus on building the business, both photography and printing.

2. Work on the portraiture, I did my first shoot the other night, had a blast.

3. I have some big photo excursions planned. I'm hitting mission for their season opener again, as well as doing a couple wildlife viewing day trips off the island.

My goal for 2010 is to become a nikon fanboy. I'm getting close to being the owner of a used d300

goals?
- take less photos, more quality vs quantity
- get mad at canon once they release the 5d2 firmware without a 720p option, then take out my frustration by upgrading the desktop so it can better handle editing 1080p files so i can stop editing video on my laptop.
- be inspired by something else in photography, feels like ive dipped into all kinds of different things with my camera, but nothing has ever really stuck, kinda want to find something that i can stick to and become better at.

Well I accomplished my first one this morning! The other two are ongoing I think.

1: Launch the 2010 Melinda Gombert Photography website. This went live this morning, so one 2010 goal down already!

2: My maternity leave ended in December, so now I'm actually able to jump into business head first. My main goal off the bat is to handle the small business details. Get some decent accounting going on (other than handing my accountant a bunch of recipts lol), get some presentation items created (CD's, CD cases, updated business cards, etc)

3: Shoot more. I find myself only taking my camera out when I'm working these days. I haven't even taken a lot of random photos of my son, let alone anything else! Definitely planning on doing more random shooting this year!
