While it looks obvious he hit the lamp post, I can't understand how he wouldn't have caused it serious damage.

Quite the journey for that car. From Japanese junkyard to Canadian junkyard.

THIS IS A LIE >.>
we all know ALL RHDs come from owners for love and never drive their cars.
I would make the obligatory winter tire remark, but it's been above zero all week and the only thing on the major roads is water. He'd better have had a set of aquatreads for chinooks in that case... :nut:
Curious how it ended up so fucked though with seemingly no damage to the lamp post.

Looks like it was fairly recently registered judging by the plate. Teenager trying to drift maybe?

Well from what seen the lamp post was untouched, actually on the passenger side you can see the skid marks from the road through the snow to were it's sitting... So I'm assuming who ever was driving rear ended someone pretty badly. It's on shaganappi south bound right in front of market mall.
He must have hit really hard if the roof buckled from the imact.

naw its a real gtr

It hit the light standard I believe, I drove by it today and you can't see in the photos, but the other side of the pole has a nice dent in it (from what I saw sitting at the red light headed northbound)
probably trying to drift coming from wb 40th ave onto shag:dunno:
either way looked horrible, and hope the driver is alright

Good thing the front rebar, an integral part of the crumple zone, did what it was designed for. Oh wait, it looks like it was hacked to shit for the fmic and did little to protect the car (and occupants) from the impact. D'oh!

Probably better there than causing a hazard on the road, RHD just aren't designed to be here

Sorry man but I'm gonna have to call you on that. Personally RHD is fine in Calgary, it's certin drivers *cough* *cough* similar to the pics above. Who give them a bad name. My friend, she lent me her RHD RX-7 I had no issues getting around Calgary what so ever. Guess some people just don't have paitence an they wreck.
Ps Nathan it looked like you had a very nice GT-R at one point
I think scat was being subtly sarcastic.

The reinforcement bar (aka re-bar) is visible in the pic. It's on the left side of the intercooler but it looks like it's been hacked in half. It's common that with an IC upgrade to remove the re-bar
ie:
http://www.unitronic.ca/alex/kinetic/WEB/P1030047.jpg
However what I can't tell is if the missing right side of the rebar is because of damage from the collission (I've never seen a rebar sheared in half like that) or from something else. The intercooler looks stock so I don't see why it would've been cut down.
Edit: my bad, missed nathantheman's post. Not a stock IC!

I am seriously doubting that is the stock intercooler. Do you see how thick it is in the picture? I could totally be wrong though. :dunno:

Lol, thanks for that. I was making a joke. Actual rebar looks nothing like the bumper of the car. Yet people still call it rebar.

But your joke fell flat, because while you only associate the word rebar with the concrete/ masonry industry, the term is also commonly used in the automotive industry for an entirely different purpose. Both are correct.
I'll add a photo for your benefit.
Actual rebar:

(rebar = short form of reinforcement/ reinforcing bar)

$4K+ damage to the front that I caused in an icy parking lot at under 5kph, and $3.5K damage to the rear from a Hit&Run from last year. Not too enthused about the whole ordeal... lol
