Well I've never done it, and not only that I don't even know what kind of battery I need. (89 240sx sr20det fmic)

I might resort to paying someone 20 bucks on this forum to do it for me.

So if you have a FMIC, is your battery relocated?

I'll change it for fifty bucks. Or two hundred including the new battery.

No it's still in the front under the hood, far left side. It looks like i'm going to need a fairly compact battery but I want one with a good amount of power.

Any suggestions? Optimas are realllllllly expensive.
Right now it's got some battery from battery direct (gold plus) in it.

Get a buddy to help you out. It's one of the easiest things you can do.

Here's a typical DIY procedure:

Measure the size of the old battery and note the position of its terminals.

Take a pic, want to see how small your battery is, because you might have to order one if its tiny like mine and your picky with what you want.

I'll get you a pic as soon as I get home from work. So like an hour or something. It isnt tiny tiny but I'd say its smaller than most? I don't know really.

OK well obviously your probably going to need to find yourself a smaller than normal battery. Have you looked at any yet that would fit? Dont worry about a pic, its probably similar to what I have.

I think it's toast - you'll probably need to buy a new car.

I went and gave him a hand, but the smallest battery he could find was a little too long and the terminals were switched. I let him know he should call a few places see if he can get anything local, but cheapest he found was $180 I think. We tryed boosting his car as well, and it ran fine for 5 minutes then killed itself, so im wondering if his alterator is the problem.

Regardless, hope it works out for you OP, hopefully your alternator isnt shot, and your able to find a battery. If you have any more questions/need help send me a text or a pm and I will help you out as best I can.
