Mazda 3 auto shifter R&I

Just wondering if anybody could tell me how to remove the automatic shifter knob on a 07 Mazda 3 Sport? I bought it, thinking the dealership was going to fix a big scuff on it with the pre-delivery detailing, and I forgot to check it before I signed off on it, and sure enough, they missed it.

Not a big deal, because I was thinking of doing an overlay or maybe a paint job to it anyways.

Just don't want to mess up my shifter in the process. Billions of how-tos on the manual, but I can't see to find anything about the automatic.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the auto shifter knob is the same as the manual, which makes it a left hand thread. Can anybody confirm that, at least?

likely just clock-wise threaded. ie. counter clock-wise to remove. or check to see if there's an allen bolt or something which holds it on.
