Hi beyond.ca I am a white guy that enjoys dim sum, where should I go for the best dim sum in Calgary? I have been to various locations in China town and to the place in TnT.

If you like seafood, go to Regency Palace

But otherwise, theres another one I cant remember the name, its inside New Asia, and you gotta go up the stairs to it.

Not sure where is the best. Haven't tried them all. Happy Hill on Centre St N is pretty good. There is a newer one on Centre and McKnight which is also pretty good. East Gate on 17th ave SE used to have cheap dim sum, not sure if they do now or not.

I don't remember having really bad dim sum in Calgary actually. They may not look as pretty as the ones in Hong Kong, but they taste fine. That, and the price/portion, is all I care. LOL

- Ginger Beef @ Willow Park has it on the weekend.

- A place called "T Pot" in the TnT Harvast Hills location (same parking lot beside Tim Hortins)

- Buy some TnT frozen stuff and make it yourself

- Hook up with an Azn chick and let her guide you

- Think there's a place in the basement of the Chinese Cultural Centre

- Place above Dragon City Mall

- Silver Dragon

Not 2 for 1, buy 2 get 1 free (so 3 for 2)

I hate that place because they tend to be MSG heavy.

Since you are white .. I don't know what to tell you ...

I am a pure honger/chinese .. I don't really like to do dim sum here ....

If I have to, I will say Silver Dragon .. :burnout:

Don't be lazy ... 1 hour flight isn't that much! :D

(I like the frozen dim sum idea in Calgary too! :D )

Hongcouver is better if you know where to go. Most are average at best.

T Pot is definitely one of the better ones in the city, but Vancouver has way better options.

Is that the one on second floor in china town?

I wouldn't go there -they don't have the best track record for clean kitchen, they've had their shit shut down in the past.

T Pot and Forbidden City are pretty much the same (operates by the same guy). They are not bad but dim sum chefs' quality differs from time to time because the operator is fucking cheap, and has high staff turnovers. Do not tip there as the operator keep all the tips.

Grand Central (New Asia) is good but not a lot of variety.

pho is good, but for me dim sum is better.

I find with pho, i can never eat much of it when I am hungover. I can pig out on dim sum tho.

Centre Street/McKnight one is good. For some strange reason, that place isn't packed with people anymore, especially for dinners.

I remember this, it was found inside their fried rice, not sure if it was at T-pot. Cooks said it was a piece of BBQ pork not band-aid :barf:

There's that new place down inside Chinese cultural centre downstairs, I hear its cheap?

Not sure if it's any good though.

Story from my grandma: her friend was there for dinner one day when someone started terrorizing by throwing boulders through all the windows. This was a couple months ago.

My family ONLY frequents Forbidden City, Tai Pan, Regency Palace & Central Grant, because we're all sticklers for good dim sum.

In laws said the dim sum is cheap & pretty good. But I don't really trust their tastes. Usually when they say a restaurant tastes good, they really mean they like it because it's cheap.
