Im looking at a Nissan Skyline GTS-t

R32 w/ RB25DET (swap)

car has original 50,000k

has HICAS all wheel steering, aftermarket exhaust, GTR spoiler / body kit.

Went to look today, it started up fine even in the cold, it sounds great, clutch is good, tires are good, outside of car is great, no rust, under the hood is supremely clean, not even any dust LOL

selling for $8,500 what do you think, should I take it?

seems like a pretty decent price for a rb25 clean swapped skyline!

Take it for inspection and see what happens! If she passes id go for it

I disagree, $8500 seems supremely overpriced for that. Sorry.

Offer them $6000.

Or buy a 95 R33 Gtst with the original engine (RB25DET) for the same price and then you know you're not gambling with swapped, unknown engines.

BTW, it doesn't have 50,000 ORIGINAL kms. That should never be a selling feature lol. Put a 2 in front of it, make it more accurate.

Yeah, $8500 is a little bit much for an R32. I'd expect it to be pretty near flawless at that price.

Don't get an R33 though, gaaaaaay (and slow).

Yeah it's only a GTST. :dunno:

I was browsing the hell out of Kijiji today and some some wayyy better finds. 300whp S14 for 4g. 350whp 1g DSM for 6 grand. Both would knock the socks off a GTST, even with a decent amount of mods done to it.

If you're looking at buying it just to own a Skyline, well, that's your thing.

Where is this S14 for 4000 that has 300whp?!!

and onto the skyrine.... hicas is not good... you want that shit locked out... rb25 is nice... but you will need a new turbo if you want to run any more then ~12psi of boost since the stock ones grenade around there...

would it be faster then that s13 posted? hell ya... would it be more fun around corners then that fwd talon that was posted? you know it... would i pay $8500 for that car? heeellll no... but you could give me $8500 for mine ;)

really do some homework on this topic man .. both skylines and JDM cars

for 8.5k you can get close to immaculate ACTUAL r33 gts, there was also a gtr with 350z wheels for 9k.

also think about if you really want a rear wheel drive car that you will never sell for that price again

I would take any of these car anyday bofore a non-GTR for 8500.
That talon is a hell of deal too, you will have way more fun plus it has a rebuild.

I would look at AWD cars like wrxs, celicas, talons and even a non-turbo GTO(AWD), first because while owning rwd cars you will not have a great time in winter

Do some homework. We shouldn't have to teach you

Tip: 99% of Skylines and Supras have odometers that are turned back. There is actually a company that offers importers the OPTION of having the odos turned back in Japan after they purchase the car for like 100$. The only cars I trust mileage on (in my experience) are GTRs and all trucks/vans like Hilux and Delica.

I agree, go R33 GTS or R32 GTR...or R33 GTR... Personally I like the look of R32 more than R33 but whatever.

GTR's are notorious to have to be rebuilt around 100k. Here's what you do, buy a GTR with a blown to shit engine and hopefully tranny. Then, buy a brand new GTR engine and tranny and you're good to go!

dont listen to these heros. if the car is nice and you like it get it. not all j cars have changed odometers...

what about export certificates and documentation ?

Yes I know how easy it is to get a low mileage cluster in Japan from a JDM junkyard, but 99% is an extreme exadjuration

No it's turned back before it gets exported. There's absolutely no accountability for roll backs for cars being shipped overseas.

Believe me or don't believe me, truly I couldn't possibly care less. I'm just trying to raise the veil of extremely uninformed naivity. I'm no "hero", but I tell all my customers to not focus on mileage and I make sure to mention I never guarantee mileage as accurate. Get it inspected, get it compression tested, check how much rust there is, check the wear on the steering wheel, seats, shift knob and rotors. Make you're own judgement.

99% was of course an exageration to make a point. I'd say it's closer to 75%.

Yeah I dunno, both the JDM's I've owned have had service records from japan with mileage marked, and definitely do not seem like they have had over the reading (108,000 and 119,000). Its still true that lots of cars don't get driven much in Japan.

Ugh I love it, but I can't dare drive it in this. And I hate having to borrow another vehicle whenever I wanna go anywhere. Silvia doesn't even have rock chips

Kardon

I really should, just got offered a 04 SRT4 (I would be the last person to ever buy a neon, but the resale on these are impressive).. Decisions decisions!

inline6turbo
01-27-2010, 03:01 AM
I did that before, traded a car I loved for something I thought I could make a quick buck on. The gain wasn't worth the loss for me. But I get REALLY attached haha.

Kardon
01-27-2010, 03:04 AM
But the quick buck is so inticing! And I could buy a nice all year car like some QX4 and just cruise the snow no problem. I think I screwed up trying to buy a sports car as a primary mode of transport.

you can tell the shits been modified then parts taken off before shipping, (carpet around dthe strut towers in rear cut off) the engine bay has been pressure washed(not good!!!). its a good swap. wouldnt start when i tried to start it, i think it was a CAS problem because it was priming just no start up. give him 6500

I haven't read past here, but R33s are big, heavy, and ugly. I would take a swapped R32 any day. I also lol at your comment about 50,000 original Kms. If I tried to sell my 82 corolla with 55,000 in Japan do you think they would call bullshit? Or my 83 mazda with 80,000? Both of which are most definitely original. I know people swap odometers (very rare) but they would still have to get one from a car that actually had that few kms, so they must be out there. Rolling back a newer odometer isnt as easy as people think, unless you have tried it in a skyline then your opinion is just that.

edit: haha, didnt read the dates.
