Some people on this forum wanted me to post pictures of my new "house" that my father and I renovated over the past while. I hope you enjoy!

Description:

The building is a 2500sqft (estimated), steel-wrapped, millwork shop that my father and I decided to renovate into a "suite" for me to live in while I go back to school full time.

It has 12' ceilings, heated floors, and the garage space to make most car enthusiasts jealous!

Located on the back of my parents property, this building is far enough away from the main house that it gives me plenty of privacy but still makes it rent free! :D

Please pardon the bad quality of pics, i took the "before" shots with my cell phone.

Pics:
Here is the exterior. New Jeld-Wen windows! (I work there)

Early stages of the reno. What used to be an office, has been stripped out. This is the future living room.

More of the gutting. This shows the future kitchen and hallway entrance.

This will be my bedroom

Moving around some of the studs to give me a bathroom.

We had to install a raised floor for the bathroom because it would give us more play to move around the plumbing.

This project started in September and finished last week (Jan 23rd). Lot's of blood, sweat, and pocket went into this. Mostly it was just my father working on it during the week as i work full time and take evening courses. Weekends would be a team effort and overall, i am very impressed with the outcome:

Living Room

Kitchen

Bedroom. This is my favorite part of my new place. 16' x 16' x 12'. Massive bedroom! The ceiling is what makes me proud! Between my design and my fathers ingenuity, we created the floating ceiling from scratch!

More bedroom.

Even more bedroom. A big shout out to Kloubek and Lint for the wardrobes! They work great!

Last one of the bedroom, I promise! I wanted a shot of the floating ceiling because i just think it is awesome!

I wanted to save these for last. My garage space!

So, this is the new home of Tomaz. A big thanks to Anthony and Jaimie for giving me a hand the last few weeks to complete the finishing. And a massive shot out to my Dad for being good at what he does! And for creating the perfect place to live while going to school!

I hope you appreciate the new diggs as much as i do!

Looks good, I would have gone with a much darker hard wood though. What was the total cost for everything needed to make this happen?

I wanted to go darker too, but all materials used were at really cheap prices/on sale.

$15,000.00 Roughly

Includes new hot water tank, underfloor heating system, and boiler.

Not to mind all materials/tools needed to build the place.

As asked, why the blur? As far as the pad goes, i can't see anyone complaining with living there. The hardest part is bring the bitches back, but once they are there, GAME ON SON.

Either a chopshop. Or a rare car that he doesnt want people to know its there as not to attract unwanted visitors?

Very nice Tomaz. Great looking Wardrobe closet too... where'd you get 'em? ;)

Love the garage. Though my sight seems to be adversely affected... everything is blurry.

Funny, my parents basically paid me to leave to attend university and your parents are paying you (free rent, etc) to stay. You do know they will expect the same treatment when they are old and need a place to live rent free. You can switch their house for your new pad. Fair deal, switch in a few decades.

Nice digs by the way.

Almost. Cars that do not belong to me. Just keeping the privacy of my clients.

They do get a little squirmy when the cell phone reception dies, on a dirt road, in the middle of nowhere. lol
