I was up in the north, going east bound on Mcknight, just before the corner with 7/11,petro, huskies etc (centre street?) and some dude in a raised F-350 pulls up beside me. he revs a couple times, and to joke around with him I do too. Light turns green and this guy is at the next set of lights before Ive even got through the intersection. Taken a look at it after, the thing looks like it had 25 inch+ tires, raised 5 inches, double 3 inch + exhaust. Man, I got worked. Im going to go cry. Cudos to the nice truck though bud.

those things have so much fucking torque it's ridiculous... they accellerate like they have twice the horsepower they actually do. only problem is when you wind them up they aren't 'that' quick.

I used to work with a diesel, gear head. He had a 13-14 sec '97 diesel Ram. This thing hauled ass! It's 2WD red, stock looking, watchout!

It's like thatvid posted a while back. The F350 ran a 11.42 second 1/4. Completely destroyed the RX7, but it was belting out black smoke like crazy!

it is all about the driver in this situation; do the math on power to weight ratio

I have never yet (knock on wood) been beaten by a turbo diesel and I drive a mk2 golf. Engine has been worked but still...

Man, My best freinds bro took us to montrose crossing ( a hangout were people show off there rides ) and my bst freinds older brother raped a 2001 vette off the line with his Dodge ram. The vette punished in the end but, that ram had some nice ass pick up. :burnout:

I guess the extra weight would help stick the tires, and long wheelbase+rwd doesn't hurt either :burnout:

Well, you can also tweak a Turbo Diesel. I have seen quite a few diesels done wright. Guyon (sp?) Racing has a couple I think. I have seen one truck with a sticker from them "fly away" once on a ramp.

True, plus i heard that vettes arnt as good off the line till they kick in to 3rd gear. The vette looked stock, except there was stickers on the side that said "stang stopper":dunno:

Diesels don't have throttle plates and would not have a BOV, because of no throttle plates=no risk of compressor surge. Correct me if I am wrong?

when the valves close there's still the risk of compressor surge.

On a regular gas turbo car, when you are on power and under boost, the valves open and close (part of the operation of the motor, cannot be helped) and there is no issue. Can't imagine this would be an issue in a diesel.

I've got a buddy, who has a 1998 Ram 1 ton. With a cummins. Propane & Nitrous injection. Pushes a dynoed 1000 ft/lbs of torque. With a little over 450 hp. There built for abuse.

I know a few guys in Red Deer that have huge lifted ford f350's. all of them are diesels and fast as fuck. It not hard to get a truk like that to move. Up the boost, I think one guys was running like 21psi, and toss on a nice exhaust. If you really want to get into it, chips, propane injection et, etc. On the tv show TRUCKS they did up a duramax to like 700hp.... i think, it was alot anyway!!! But the one guy i know has 44" swampers on his truck and it'll light em up no prob through an intersection from a dead stop enough that all you can see is smoke.... Thats torque!!!

Diesel's dont have nor require BOV's or CBV's...their plumbing is so simple...its mind boggling...But man oh man the put out some Torque...my neighbour is pushing something like 900 ft.lbs. at the wheels...that's sick...

yea, i should retract that statement about the BOV, must have been something else i heard, or me just making excuses to make up for how bad i lost:banghead: lol

Buddy, there are diesel trucks running 13 second quarters man...

It just take a little bit of tweaking to get them to push a TON of torque outta those motors...

diesels are awesome, Although I've seen alot of them blow the rear ends, The allison transmissions are tougher then shit(if you blow one they don't ask and just give you a new one, you can't rebuild em!) but the rear ends are not meant to take that much power, even just a little more then stock, so they blow quite easily, on the new chevs atleast.

The civic would get raped if the truck had any mods whatsoever.

nos or anything.

There isnt a single civic hatch that i've heard of thats faster tehn 13sec.

don't worry about getting worked man

i've done that too lots of people, the reason, they don't expect you too actually take off

if u were to race my truck i might just work u off the line, but my truck tops out at 100mph neways (only three speeds *shakes fist*) besides this truck was automatic

right. no point of a bov being on a diesel. another fun fact for the day is that diesels dont make vacuum. also, my diesel for example, a golf, has a variable vane turbo, basically the fins can change angles depending on rpm keeping optimal flow all the time. holds 16psi constant, spikes to 22. (garrett model vnt-15 i think)
