i could have told you that we wouldnt have got it. they said all along that the bumpers wouldnt pass. never get anything good?, go to a dub dealer and look at the new phaeton W12 thats a good car for only $128,000
its too bad, but im not sure if it would have sold as well as say a STi or Evo which is comperably priced.

I test-drove a UK version R32 in HK. Which is one of the five available in HK. That thing will make you piss in your pants.

Sadly, like Rogue said, due to bumper regulations in Canada it is not going to be offered for sale. But there is one R32 in Canada already - but it's owned by HPA Motorsports in Langley, British Columbia. They developed a twin-turbo set-up for it. 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and a quarter mile of 11.4 seconds @ 121 mph.
Check it out (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1016160)
The MK5 R32 may be available in Canada however when it's launched in a few years. So far it's been said that it will develop in the neighborhood of 300bhp, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

How much where they expected to retail for (in Canadian)?

They're supposedly going to run $30,000 U.S. so I would reckon mid-forties for Canada.

ahahah, if that was an r32, there would be two problems:
cracked bumper, and slower time.

Defintely sad that it's not coming. It would have impressed a lot of non-vw enthusiasts thats for sure.
I love the STi but if this came I would have been torn.

The 5th generation Golf looks real nice. They have pictures and info on www.volkswagen.de but it is rather difficult to navigate around in German
