Whats best, just those door hang bars from where ever? Any brand better than another?

Don't really want to drill into a door frame and am not getting my full cage yet.

Any door bar that will hold your weight (plus some flex weight) and not damage the frame should work. If possible, grab one that allows for hammer chins, traditional chins, and pull ups :)

Any fitness store should have them. Hell, WalMart/Canadian tire might have them.

Thanks, can you do the hammers and widegrips on there?

if you have a garage you can just hang off the joists and do everything like that. Builds grip strength too because grabbing 2x4s like that sucks

Screw two eye hooks into a joist, hang some rope (rated for climbing/hanging), and tie a lacrosse stick across it. Works well, is durable and cheap!

I have the power gym pull up bar and am highly satisfied with it. Its took 5 minutes to put together, fits just fine on the door frame. I was a bit hesitant to try it at first because I didnt want to break the door frame but it works perfectly. Im about 160lb and it has no problems supporting me (its good till ~250) If you go to this thread ( http://forums.beyond.ca/st/288133/p90x-2010-edition/ ) and scroll down 2/3's of the way through the first page, someone else posted some pictures.

Another awesome thing about the pull up bar is its cheap. I picked up from Walmart for $40 and saw it is priced the same at superstore. You can do hammer grip, short grip. Wide grip doesn't work as well for me because of the size of my door frame, I can still do it, but my fingers are on the inside portion of the grip. If that doesn't make sense, look at the first picture in the 90x thread and you will know what I mean. Probably some of the best 40 dollars I have spent on a piece of fitness equipment, highly recommended.

I bought one from Canadian Tire, about $20, does the trick quite well, it has pads on it that have held up well.

For the door hang ones that seem to be the popular choice would they fit a bit thicker than average door, not wider but thicker than the standard 4 inches, more like 6?

Do a measurement because I have a P90x one and although the website says it can fit up to a 6.5" frame, that doesn't account for the baseboard around the frame. I just tried it on my garage door and it doesn't fit because it's about 8" with the baseboard, but it is a 6.5" frame.

But with that said, I like the P90x one because you can do lat pull ups unlike the others.

I have something like this http://www.pullupbar.com/ it does the trick :dunno: .
My sister bought it for me at the stampede, I'm not sure where you can buy them normally. I worried about the molding not being able to hold it up since I live in a 60+ year old house, but have had zero problems.

The costco one is gone. It was a road show ending on Sunday.
No point in spending the extra cash on it anyways, it's the same as the rest.
