Not a good weekend otherwise. The car is too heavy (3600 pounds by class rules in Extreme Drag Radial - XDR), and makes ungodly power, so we really had to tone the power down to no blow the radials off, we also started breaking transmission input shafts.

This is a $11,000 PowerGlide. We were on our FOURTH shaft by the end of the weekend.

Pit side 3 transmission R&R's!

Best pass was "only". 7.63 at 196 mph taking it easy under "low boost" hahahahaha. Our nearest competitor only went 190 mph! We did previously run 199.7 in Vegas in November, and were looking for the magic 200+ barrier.

A couple pics I took...

The two shafts that broke in the same spot look as if they broke in a weaker area where some diameter is milled away, that third one broke right in a meaty part :nut:

Launching off a trans brake?

Yes, but the shafts were breaking approximately 0.2 seconds after the 1-2 shift (2 speed tranny.).

The "new" shaft is 'ringless', meaning no grooves cut in it. And it is thick the whole way, and supposedly a tougher material.
