1st gens were notorious for shitting the diff through the tranny case if you did too many peg leg burnouts.
I guess Chrysler strengthened the diff in 2nd gen neons so instead it shits the engine out the top of the hood

^ That car was well on the fast track for fails-ville regardless. Glad this just sped up the process.

LOL... that's wacky to see the engine went "popped" with the flywheel shot thru up out of the hood! Well, good thing that it's a Neon... they're cheap and not worth in keeping as it is.

That is the dumbest shit I've ever seen... he attempted to do it ON A DECLINE IN A FWD CAR! For sheer stupidity he deserves every bit of what happened.
Pro-tip: When you're on a decline more weight is shifted to your front wheels than the rears = easier burnouts for RWD, harder burnouts for FWD. Opposite is true for inclines.

^ I think his train of thought was that water was pooled there, thats why. :dunno:
perhaps maybe I'm giving him more credit then he deserves though.

haha oh man that was like something out of a cartoon. It's never that dramatic when a diff pops for the most part. Looks like the car was recently broken into as well so buddy hasn't been having the best luck with that car.

From the OP:
"LOL Split the block and tossed the crankshaft threw the side..."
No - he isn't wrong, "through" is correct, "threw" is not.
