well all depends...if your cars worth 2000 then yes, but if u have a 50,000 car sure 3000 is nothing.......

Let's say the car is worth around $5000.

i dont think so really
u got springs, shocks, t-rods, bushings, control arms, camber kit, strut n sway bars, all of that plus install, and theres probably some stuff im forgetting too
i say go for it  worthy investment,

if its gonna be a competition car (drag, track, rally) than no, not really. its a bit for a $5000 car, but suspension is the most important thing in road racing. Now on the street, who cares, you should never have the car at its limits on the street, but you may get close, in which case a good set of dampners and springs will be more than enough.

telll your friend to evaluate what he wants to do with the car.

BTW, i cant believe that many people said no!!!

What kind of suspension is it? If it's the electronic controlled suspension then that would be an awesome price. But if it's just simple coilovers and struts, you could get away with spending half of that...

no not at all, a set of mazdaspeed struts for me cost 1g alone. so along with camber kit, coilovers, etc 3g is about right

yeah but do you NEED $3000 of suspension...

i say the most anyone really NEEDS is a set of H&R springs and some konis.... unless you're doing autox every weekend that should do you just fine...

Unless the car is going to see serious competition use, I'd say its a huge waste of money. We're spending twice that for the suspension on the mustang, but thats for a track only car.

uhh if my rims are included, i only have coilovers and im already over that point 4700 for rims, coilovers and control arms

minus 2800 for the rims/rubber

i still have to buy sway bars, x-brace, various performance bushings and rear shock mounts

I think it depends on what car the setup is going onto, the weaknesses in that particular car, and the gains that can be achieved with a good setup (ie. how rigid is the car to start with)
I think 2500-3000 is reasonable if it will see competition.
I'd also say that it's best to start from a good platform, and not try to bring a sub-par car up to spec by peeing money all over it.

Hrmmm... if its an old school toyota, YES... but some 95 civic dx, NO

Depends what kind of car. $3000 performance suspension for a bmw, mb, porsche etc isnt bad but $3000 on suspension for a toyota other than an mk4 supra is overkill. there are alot of nice coilover kits from the 1500-2400 range that are more than sufficient

the only reason it costs so much in the end especially if its going to compete is that without a fully upgraded suspension on an old car, the weakest link will eventually give (probably some bushing or some mount) so you end up buying all those little bits too and getting them replaced to protect the suspension investment as a whole...besides the little pieces make the biggest difference

ok, you need to clarify this, is it 3 large for a set of coils? or is it 3 large for coils, bushings, sway bar, strut tower bar...

the first, then NO
the second, then YES

3g for coils only?...must be magical suspension then

maybe he means coilovers? I paid about 2100 for my tein setup.. very happy with the investment... but then again my stock setup was on its last leg

I spent close to 1400 for my tanabe sustec pro's, plus another 2XX for my energie suspension bushings. Add in my front and rear strut bars and the sway bars I plan on getting in spring and you have $$$$

actually, i am probably going to up my budget to $4000. i am hoping that it can cover pretty much everything; springs, shocks, f/r stbs, sway bars, bushings, lateral rod, camber plates, and all the extra bits here and there. i also need everything installed too, but apparently most stuff doesnt take very long to install. if all goes well there will be some leftover for other stuff.

the main thing now isnt really how much im spending, but more that i need to do a ton of research into this shizzam..

depends on what your lookin for in quality/price
