I moved into a new place and I have 8 speakers that are throughout the home. I am looking for a Zone Splitter so that I can actually use them and I can't seem to find anything. I hit Best Buy, Future Shop, Soundsaround and all of them said I have to try a specialty home audio company. I went to one off of Heritage and the way wanted $1600 for the box.

Am I looking for the right thing? Is that what these normally cost and I am just out of my mind for thinking that's insane? Any suggestions on where I might find this here in Calgary?

Thanks in Advance guys!

Can you explain how exactly you would like to use them? ie play a single source through all of them at the same time, at the same volume? Be able to adjust room volume independently (assuming you have no volume controls in the rooms)? play different sources in different rooms at the same time?

Sure :)

All that is in each room is volume controls. So it's just to be able to play single source in the rooms and control the volume. Pretty simple I assumed... but I keep getting told that it's not.

Sounds like something like this (http://www.smarthome.com/8855/ATON-4-Zone-DLA-Speaker-Selector-with-Remote-Control/p.aspx) would work, which has an integral amplifier. You could step down to an impedance matching speaker selector (http://www.hd.ca/selectors/sw4spk.php) if you don't have impedance matching volume controls, or even a simple speaker selector (http://www.smartbuyspeakers.com/product/DBLT52579) could work, provided you have impedance matching volume controls and a sufficient amp.
