Only about 6-7 from the list so far. :(

Bora Bora is where I've decided I am going for my honeymoon, whenever that happens. lol

I've got six. Totally agree about the south island of NZ though. Pretty much every square inch of that place is spectacular.
Friendly people, pleasant climate. That's where I want to move if I ever leave Canada.

I'm 34, and once you have kids, it gets a lot tougher to get to a lot of these places. Some will have to wait until the kids get older, the rest will have to wait until retirement...

(but honestly, that's fine with me - you've gotta have something to look forward to right? Plus, I want my kids to experience a lot of these places too)

I agree with you there! Whats the point of seeing everything you need to see before you turn 30 lol! Doesn't mean you can't go certain places twice though I guess.

Looking at this list, I think my next trip will be a French Polynesia, Austrailia, New Zealand trip. The plan is to go to Sri Lanka and Maldives in December though - its looking much more appealing to me and the family now that the war is over.

Not bad for almost being 23 and not traveling much until I finished college, but I have a ways to go...
I'm kinda surprised that Vietnam didn't get any mentions, Hanoi and Ha long bay are two of the most interesting and unique places I've been.

Some on that list could definitely be replaced with better sites to see.

edit: I've been to three on that list.

I've seen 26 on the list.

Of the ones on the list I haven't seen the only ones I am keen on seeing are: Machu Piccu, The Himalayas and Rio de Janeiro. I going to Tibet this summer and also hope to go to Peru, Brazil and Bolivia when the rail situation there is sorted out.

I'd put Munich during Oktoberfest really really high up there, but possibly for different reasons than that list was made.

Chicago, Prague and Budapest would all be very high on my list of places I think people should see that I've been to.

It's just a list, ppl, and a very subjective one at that. Didn't see Yellowstone on that list and Yellowstone is quite an experience. Logan's pass in Glacier National Park in Montana - quite something to see also. Red Rock Coulee right here in Alberta - another little gem unseen by most everyone. Helmecken Falls in B.C.'s Wells Gray Provincial Park - spectacular. Old Montreal or possible even Quebec City - wonderful places to visit. Amsterdam - been there with the wife, would go again and bring the kids.

Remember, this is just someone's list - make your own list and then get going. Many of those places would never be on my top 50, many of them would be but I'll probably never see them and it's not gonna bother me if I don't see them. If you want this to be your top 50, then go for it I say, but don't necessarily cross off what is pretty much in your backyard so to speak.

Lots! As others have pointed out, that list is subjective and I believe was just the result of a poll conducted by the BBC.

Places I've been to that I'd recommend are:

Cinque Terre, Italy
Windhoek, Namibia (Even if just for Joe's Bierhouse)
Marrakesh, Morocco
Pai, Thailand
Vang Vien, Laos
Ha Long Bay, Vietnam
Sapa, Vietnam
Algarve, Portugal
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Zakopane, Poland
Boracay, Philippines
Yellowstone National Park, USA
Tokyo, Japan

Places I haven't been yet but are high on my priority list and would fit the "theme" of this list are:

Socotra, Yemen
Zanzibar, Tanzania
Antarctica
Greenland

Some of the choices on this list seem a bit puzzling.

Bangkok, Thailand - Thailand has so much more to offer than this big dirty city.

Aukland, New Zealand - Same as above... nothing special about Aukland, but there's lots to see on the North Island.

As for places not on the list, I'd agree with David and say Vang Vien, Laos and Yellowstone Park are worthy.

At one point I would have agreed with you about Bangkok, as I used to get in and get out as quickly as possible. I've now been there 4 times, once for 3 weeks, and can say it's actually a very cool city.

I'd much rather spend time there than in Dubai (where I'm currently stuck).

I hadn't noticed Auckland on the list. Strange they'd put Auckland and South Island rather than South Island and North Island or simply New Zealand haha.

For me, the two places I would remove from the list are Dubai & Disney World.
