What happens to the cool specialty built cars in movies? does the production co. sell them? do they crush them?.... Just curious.:)

Sometimes they are sold to the public in the same form that was used in the movie, the Tomb Raider Edition TJ is a perfect example of this. Limited run of 1000, exact replica of the one in the move, minus Angelina Jolie.

They're generally sold back to the public. The lot of 6 of those primer beige 1970 Monte Carlo's used in Tokyo Drift were recently sold on ebay. I think with merely a $14k buy it now, for the whole lot (none had engines though)

Ultra rare & specialty cars such as the original Bat mobile end up in private collections & museums typically. Very rarely does the public ever have a chance to buy vehicles such as those.

I know atleast one of the Mini Coopers used for Italian Job was sold back to the public, and IIRC it was sold for dirt cheap.

I am pretty sure a TON of the original fast and the furious cars were sold online.

I remember seeing something about that white jetta being sold.
