i have up to 7000 for a new car. Not looking for anything fancy. just lookin for a SUV with not too high miles..
So far ive been lookin at Chevy blazers and Toyota 4runners with around 80k miles...
But ive been hearing from friends and family that Blazers are'nt very long lasting and tend to break down frequently.. any advice about what kind of SUVS last and are good in general... THANKS

It's going to be tough to get an older 4Runner for 7k - in fact, when my friend was going SUV shopping, 89s were still going for that much.

I'd look at the older cherokees or pathfinders (93ish). Blazers are not reliable at all.

Just curious why an SUV? What are you hauling or where are you off-roading?

Just say no!

Driving is supposed to be fun!

SUV + City streets = booooring. Offroading then it would be worth it but if you live in the City I do not see the point!

1> 4Runner
2> Pathfinder
3> Grand Cherokee
4> Cherokee
5> Rav4

Forget the Exploder, it breaks faster than you can get it fixed.:barf:

Unless you are looking for a Suzuki Sidekick or Lada Niva , it's going to be pretty hard to to find something with low K for 7K. You can probably find a decent 94-96 LR Discovery all set up for crawling for about that much though.

HAHAHA black max. Anyways i would get an older pathfinder or 4runner but the 4runner cabin room sucks asss. so cramped in there, cherokees are a dime a dozen and very capable offroaders so you can have fun. Out of the 3 i listed you can get a newer jeep cheaper but i would still go pathfinder(mid to late 80s) they are all very capable 4x4s.

Grand Cherokee..I sold one last year...1993 is the first year for them...get a 94 or 95 laredo and you might be in the budget...limiteds with V8 and leather like I had are more like 10-12K right now..

I dunno about that.... I have a '98 Explorer, with 178,000 km on it. So far since new.... ONE tune-up @ 148,000km, One battery, two sets of tires, (one set from the recall.) Two brake jobs, and now I have to replace a CV shaft.
I would say I have gotten my money's worth.

Go with the Explorer
