at least firesleeve and band clamp the things if they are the flex type, if there's one thing i've learnt working on piston engine aircraft, murphy's law has permanent residence under any power plant cowling/hood.

You guys are looking WAY to deep into this. Personally, I think the guy just had some marshmellows and needed something to roast :)
