Apparently, Evgeni Plushenko has awarded himself a Platinum medal.

If you'll recall, Evgeni took the silver medal in men's figure skating on Thursday, Feb. 18. He finished behind Evan Lysacek of the United States and there was a bit of a controversy about who should've won the gold medal.

Plushenko does a quadruple jump. Lysacek does not. However, Lysacek skated a flawless program full of triple jumps, while Plushenko had bobbles here and there throughout his program. Plushenko also front-loads his program, which means he does his most difficult elements at the beginning. Lysacek does some of his more difficult jumps at the end of his program. Under the new scoring system, a skater is awarded more points for doing more difficult elements near the end.

Regardless of who "should have" won, it's still pretty hilarious that either Pluskenko or someone in charge of his website decided to forego the Olympic judges and award Plushenko a Platinum medal.

As much as you may think he's a douche, he's RIGHT.

Figure skating is still an F'ing sport. NOBODY should be able to win gold with only triples. That may have won you gold in 80's but not now.

He was robbed of that gold, and the world knows it. Yeah, he's a bit cocky about it but really, he should be outrightly furious but he's a veteran and he knows it's not worth it.

It was like Slutskaya and that other broad back in the day. Slutskaya got robbed of the gold, but she's still a legend and i can't even remember her name.

Same with Plushenko and Lysacheck will probably fade away.

When it comes to sports that determine winners by judging, you can only expect different responses from the world. Got to love how it gives people the chance to bitch and complain if they lose (even if sometimes they win their complaint :D)

But, awesome for awarding himself a platinum medal. That medal better be 100% platinum haha

Didn't you guys see the fact that he said that if you can't do quad you don't deserve a metal in figure skating, that is called "ice dancing", and I think he is right. It is all about the skill, yet some guy who can move his feet better wins..then he should be in ice dance haha

I don't care, but the guy has a point, that is why they have the ice dance program, for those who can't handle the sports aspect of it.
