Driving east on 16th ave @ deerfoot today and spotted a white or silver third gen mr2 (sorry, no pics). Last time I looked into importing, vehicles not sold in canada needed to be 15 years old to import... Couldn't tell what plate it had on, but are these things legal to import now?

hmm.. This is the generation I saw, thought they started production in 2000-ish? I guess I don't know my toyota history.

Last year Canada finally got rid of the retarded bumper law so now certain US cars that didn't meet old bumper tests are now allowed. US import cars don't have to be 15 years old.

3rd gen MR2 and Evo IX are among the few that are now allowed.

The 3rd Gen is damn ugly and slow though. Don't see a point in bringing that over.

They are legal now. Someone has a stock on up here now. There's the one that was built completely from scratch too though. But that one it really obvious because it's so far from stock looking.

Although the pics are from California in his thread the car is supposedly in Calgary now.

Could've been the one that Fifth Avenue Auto Haus just sold last week.... and yes due to changes in the federal vehicle importation rules, a lot of US vehicles that were previously not allowed in are in Canada now i.e. VW R32's, Mitsubishi EVO's, Pontiac GTO's, etc etc

I saw the same one probably (silver) on Friday. Good god are they ugly. Pretty effeminate car, and I'm pretty sure this one was owned by a girl, as there was make-up and scrunchies all over the interior.

There are at least 5 of these in Victoria that I know of. Most of them autocross with us and my neighbour has one.

I saw my first MR-S in Calgary shortly after the importation laws were relaxed; the driver was going the other way on my favourite twisty road and looked pretty happy with it.

Can't see myself owning one with that front end on it, though. How could they go from the great look of the MR2 Turbo to something that looks like a Celica crossbred with a frog?

Then he was selling it like 2 weeks later. Not sure on the status now.

I would doubt that WAR's car would be driven with gravel still on the roads. It would be a shame if it was.
