View Full Version : Boo-erns for Crowfoot Ford

I called this morning looking for a replacement mirror for my truck. Was quoted $52.00 for the glass and 3 to 4 days for delivery from Wilkie Sask. I asked for the part number so I could call and get a second qoute because it seemed high. The parts guy flipped out on me and told me they dont give out part numbers, he could only give me a crowfoot ford invoice number. I asked him again nicely for it and he told me that if he gave me the wrong number on accident that the other dealership would get mad at him. :banghead:

Two concerns with that: 1.) If he gets the part number wrong doesnt that mean he is going to order me the wrong thing anyways? 2.) Why are they so afraid of me getting another quote.

I called advantage Ford, it was $42.00, 1 day from edmonton, and she was more than happy to give me the part number.

They probably have people calling for part numbers all day then buy it elsewhere. Seems he is just looking out for his own pocketbook.

You're right but maybe they should have competative prices. If advantage can still make money for $42.00 they can too.

Sounds like an over-achiever.

I wouldn't worry about it. I buy all my car parts online, and save a ton of money over what local dealerships charge.

They always provide part numbers!

See and that is why I am confused, I work down by advantage but have usually had such great service from Crowfoot that it is worth the drive for me.

Guess not anymore.

I have found that most of the dealerships at Crowfoot are weird like that. Something in the water?

That's the job description of a parts technician :dunno: (yes, you can go to school for "parts")

Could have fooled me.

I needed lug nuts for my z06 - went there and told them my year, corvette, z06. Didn't have a VIN number with me and they just gave me a blank look saying they can't look up parts without a VIN number. Eventually I convinced them to go to the back and they spent 20minutes comparing my lug nut to the lugs they had .... I guess every lesson at 'school' must start with "go to the parts computer and input the VIN"

Yup, I think they're tired of doing the leg work only to have people go to partznet and get it themselves.

Bingo.

But I would probably quote it anyway and have the price be competitive and hopefully it will be a lost leader for some service work.

I will pay a bit of premium for local vs internet as long as service is good.

Crowfoot ford quoted me $1100 installed for my KPH conversion cluster for my mustang....

Called cochrane ford and got it installed for $600 somthing...

Crowfoot ford was also unable to diagnose the evap problem on my cobra.... and the IMRC problem... *shrug* i've had good luck with metro ford and cam clark ford recently.

Having worked 7+ years as a parts guy, i never have a problem giving out numbers... It's all about service! You cant always make the sale but if you build a relationship with a client he WILL eventualy return if you have provided good service.

Hate to say it but Crowfoot and Cochrane are owned by the same person. But I bet Crowfoot is swamped with work and I know Cochrane might not as busy. But as for the price difference, I couldn't tell you.

Typically, I hear Cam Clark had poor service but good sales. But things can change.

I have only delt with the parts dept at cam clark so far. As for the price diffrence, generaly speaking the more rural shops will give better deals to bring in outside buisness.

Don't slam the parts guy all the time. I have been in the trade for 17 years and I always go above and beyond. Hell I will even tell the guy where he can get something identical to OEM without paying the OEM price. Trust me this has earned huge bonus points and I have a very loyal clientele. I have some people that will still come to me even if my price is a little higher because of the service.

As for Vin and looking it up, if you only knew how many pieces of equipment I have had to crawl under, over and around just to see the thing a bob that is attatched to the whatch may call it!!

But yes, It is always good to shop around, heck I still do it with my competitors all the time to make sure that I am in the ball park.

My grandfather was with Heninger in parts for 28 years. I am not docking all parts guys, just THIS parts guy. I was even a tech at Heninger for part of my internship. So I have an idea how it works.

So dont take offence parts gu..... er I mean parts girl

Hmmmmmmm, how would you happen to know if I have sagging tits or not??? I can guarantee that you don't have a fricken clue as to who I am therfore really can't say anything regarding my tits

Attitudes like that sooooooooooo make being in this trade more complicated than it has to be. And I bet you are one of the idiots that won't deal with a female either, when all the other guys on the counter are standing around with their thumbs up their ass not able to tell ya nothing. Been there, done that and have earned the respect that I deserve for the time and effort I have put in.

Sorry to the others but some people just lack respect.

Not even worth the arguement. I work in the office, I can work from home and I work from our other branches. The internet is a wonderful thing and unfortunetly they allow idiots like you to even use them.
