Hello all,

I am getting around $1700 back from the gov't and I want to invest it. I have an RRSP with work already and a TFSA with my bank... I've been wanting to start investing in stocks or something that will generate more money...

What would you guys recommend? Btw I'm a noob at stocks.

First invest in some books, never hurts to learn before investing

You know, books are a great way to start but even before that... you can play your "stock games" inside a RRSP and TFSA. Both of them can be SELF-DIRECTED, just ask your bank (may require opening up another account with bank). No need to use your tax return to do so.

TD Waterhouse and others have free seminars. Don't hurt to learn before jumping in.

Sweet, thanks for the replies guys. My GF's stepdad has been investing for a while. Looks like he will help me out.

I didn't know you could do trading inside a TFSA...I'll look into it.

Yeah I definitely need to get a grasp on trading.
