...you make it better!

The SRT-4 was originally expected to sell 1,000 units annually. They sold 10,000 and are gearing up for 13,000 in '04.

For '04, SRT-4 gets 15 more horsepower, 5 more ft lbs of torque, a Quaife torque sensing differential and stickier rubber.

The price also goes up a thousand bucks to $20,995 u.s.

I am so feeling that car. Actually I like the whole SRT line up.

SRT-4 (turbo'd neon)
SRT-6 (not released yet, but some rumours suggest it will be a dodge branded version of the Chrysler Crossfire supercharged - Krossfire Kompressor Kabrio? the concept was called the razor)
here's a link where they talk about it:

SRT-8 (not released yet Dodge Magnum Wagon with a 5.7L supercharged Hemi Magnum Engine - 480 HP and 470 lb.ft of torque!)
Ram SRT-10 Dodge ram with a viper engine. Life simply cannot get sweeter.
Viper SRT-10 Oh yes it can!

What a sweet deal. Yes it's domestic... but damn... it's nice to know the industry is starting to make fast, cheap, somewhat reliable cars again. :)

And by 06 an 8.1L HEMI V10 is in the works to replace the current V10. 600+hp...

Also the SRT-8 badging may find it's way onto the next gen dakota as a replacement for the current 'R/T', powered by the 5.7 HEMI, but that is still just a rumor.

And this thread will turn ugly in 30 posts or less.

Its true that it is a bit early to guess at how reliable the car will be, however the 2.4 L engine that's being used for the turbos (SRT-4 and PT cruiser GT) has been in production since '97 (i think - could be as early as '95) and various aftermarket turbos are available for it(chrysler cirrus/dodge stratus/plymouth breeze all used the engine for various trim packages). I'm guessing that Chrysler probably researched the aftermarket turbos or maybe they've been secretly testing the 2.4's durability all along. The 2.4 has a lot in common with the mighty 4G63 engine. And so far the turbo'd 2.4's only blow a modest 6PSi into the engine so its certainly not pushing the limits of the engine. The internals can handle 300HP without incident so the 215 - 230 hp ranges of the current 2.4 turbos puts it well within the safe range. Even the staged mopar upgrades only take it to a maximum of 250.

SRT-4 is dodge's neon with a 2.4 L DOHC Turbo engine (230HP) instead of the normal neon which runs a n/a 2.0 L (132 HP). Its also decked out with a suspension/tire package to handle the extra power.

click the "introducing SRT-4" link near the bottom.

Cheap fast car basically is what it is.

Correct, since about 94 for the 'cloud' cars.

What happended to the razor supposed to be 17,999 US. No carpet, no stereo, no cruise etc.... Just a street/race car.

Only a few concepts go to production exactly the way they are originally drafted.

I guess the SRT-4 got the cheap speed of the razor concept. The Crossfire is essentially a Benz SLK 320 as a hardtop coupe, so the SRT-6 version will be a supercharged Cabrio.
