View Full Version : Selling car via paypal - question around paperwork

Scenario:
Buyer (not local) for local car (mine) is offering to purchase the car without seeing it ( i have sent them pictures and descriptions), and pay for it via a credit card deposit to my pay pal account. They will then have someone pick it up.

Question
1. Are there any issues regarding accepting credit card pmt via pay pal (ie can they come back in 30 days and cancel the transaction?). Does pay pal verify that the credit card is valid?

2. Do I just need the usual Bill of Sale and have the person that is picking up the car fill it out or do i need a signed copy from the actual buyer?

If anyone can shed some light here, I would appreciate it.

Is a SCAM, when dealing with vehicles is better to deal locally and cash or bank draft, saves you alot of headaches.

Scam. Stolen credit card, the payments get reversed and you get fucked.

It's a scam. Nobody would buy a car without seeing it first.

If the guy has a verified PayPal account it may be ok as PayPal offers pretty good protection.

But the whole credit card thing doesn't sound good.

So...sent the guy an e-mail saying whoever was picking up the car could bring a money order or cash....an amazingly enough the buyer did not reply...just validates the "scam" comments.

Appreciate everyone who chimed in on this
