Its a cool car but I have some issues with it - I liked the original mini because it was small and cheap and fun to drive.

Now its small and fun to drive :guns:

I wouldn't get the automatic (I wouldn't get auto anyways but especially not a CVT automatic). Something about a belt drive transmission that scares me.

So my answer would be yes, as long as its standard. And especially if its the cooper S. And even more especially if its the classic mini. :D

PS - I see a lot of similarities between how the PT Cruiser was marketed and the mini is being marketed(touting its large interior even though it has a comparitively small exterior, company sponsored clubs and club drives, classic styling, etc.). It worked the first time around on me for the PT, and I guess its sold me on the new mini as well :nut:

I'd get a John Cooper Works package. Kind of expensive but it'll make 200 HP.

Did you borrow a "yellow" one ? ha ha ..

I love their "bright blue" but that colour is sort of gay too, however, Black body with white top is my first choice, British Racing Green, Dark Silver also nice. :poosie:

I think he means the oldie Mini, I can't fit well in my buddy 1969(not sure the yr, and it has a HUGE steering wheel)

My Boss is 6'4, I guess over 220lb, he has a new Mini,he fits ok, and my other co-worker is 6'5 and he can fit in a New Mini without a Problem.
Well, if a 7ft NBA player, then it is a different story ...:dunno:
Again, there is NO $30K price range sports car can offer better interior qulity as well. (but there are lots of cars offer more space and power then the mini for less price, but who buys Mini because of it's space and HP? is for FUN! )

Anyway, drive one ! you will addicted !(if you want FUN)

It'd be on my list of cars to consider if I had that kind of money but I don't know how close it would be to #1.

For the record the original Mini's were marketed as having huge interior space with tiny exterior packaging. I think there was a TV ad where they compared the space in a Mini to that of a fullsize Ford.

8 grand extra for the JCW package. You're better off waiting until the warranty is up and going the aftermarket route. The stage 2 kit from mini mania is only $2500US and makes 215hp. Here's a link.

For me, it was between the MCS, and the WRX....between the 2, the MCS has the nicer interior, IMO....

I used to hate the mini, until my wife convinced me to test drive one. Now there is no turning back.

You do get a lot for a car under 40 grand....

If I had added the nav system and leather, it would have been $4200 more. I went with the leatherette, I had bad experiences with the leather on my stealth (rips, etc.) so I will never opt for leather again...

They just had a screening of the Italian Job at the Mini Dealership tonight. It was pretty sweet....fun times! :bigpimp:

Nav and "real" leather ... well.. not really matter ..
you can tell, the Leathervette (well.. ok fake leather) in a Mini is even nicer then so call "real" leather in a GM or even a Toyota Celica !

by the way, memystealthandi, did you order with the sport cloth seat (I really like the 2 tone sport seats) or Leathevette ?
Anyway, I am with you ! for a new car, with full warranty, under $40K ...............

I went with the leatherette. It was a tough call between that and the cloth (space cloth) they look really good in the 2 tone.

Yeah, a warranty and a new car is exactly what I wanted. At an affordable price. Like you said, the stealth is afterall almost 14 years old.....

My relative in BC just had the Works kit put on. Man is it ever expensive! I guess he likes it though, he's a 61 year old Psychiatrist who loves cars. Here's what he said about it:

First the PRICE.The JCWorks kit installed was $9200CDN including taxes!!!It includes a new head,(ported and polished and mods for better breathing), a new chip, new supercharger turbine and pulley which increases boost to about 13plus lbs and a cat back exhaust which is bigger bore. NO changes to the engine , tranny , suspension, tires or wheels (18" wheels withe wider 235x35 18s are available but I ran out of $ or the will to spend more!!). How does it work? NO driveability problems. If you take it easy all you notice is the quieter engine (a deeper exhaust note) and more torque. It pulls easily from 2000rpm and pulls harder as the revs increase , and over 4000 it surges all the way to the red line. The red light then comes on off and on to let you know the traction control is working to limit wheel spin. When passing hard it lunges and top of 3d gear shows something like 130 -140 kph and in town you run out of road and have to back off. Once on the way to Whistler while passing on a slow (50k) curve I punched it and the car struggled to stay on track torquing l and r, but screaming ahead. I was caught off guard and had to duck back in line and felt a bit embarrassed at this unseemly show of sturm und drang!! (I'll get used to it!). In normal traffic it feels stronger as if anytime you want you could leap ahead and you have to hold back. Not violent , just potent.(0-60 in the
6s) The big question: Is it worth it? Initially I would have said No but after a week and a bit I'm addicted and I'd have to say Yes. Maybe it's like walking into a pub knowing you can take out anybody in the place, despite your mild mannered look. Is this what it's like to be Jet Li (ie the guys he plays). Oh yeah , Gotta use Extra premium gas, 94 octane. Only available at Chevron or Petro Can. More later,

CLiVE
12-10-2003, 01:48 PM
Nice, glad you like the kit.
My plan is to wait out the warranty (4 years) the go the aftermarket route for about 1/3 of the cost of the JCW kit....($1500US for a similar kit though minimania...install is easy enough..).

Maybe it was the car I saw, I haven't seen the inside for like 2 years. The interior on the doors is what I remember, some kind of silver/grey plastic that looked really strange, I can't explain what I thought it looked like.
