Any suggestions for a nice place to take my wife for dinner in Calgary? She likes to "Dress Up" so somewhere where a suit & dress wouldn't be out of place.

Vintage chophouse, Living Room, Belgo, Muse, Italian Kitchen.
There are lots of places on 17th where people are dressed up.

I find it fun to dress up like that and go to a very casual place. That way you're way overdressed and it's fun because you just laugh about it. One of my friends even did it at McDonald's one day.

La Caille has been closed for quite a while.

Its "Ruth's Chris" and not "Ruth and Chris" I'm pretty sure.

Lately I've tried out Vintage Chop House, Ruth's Chris, and Rush and so far none of them are as good as Halo down in Canyon Meadows, but restaurants are very subjective.

Interesting, I haven't been there in probably 5-6 months so I wonder if they changed ownership or something. I've been there 10+ times and I can't get enough. I always order Calamari, 14oz ribeye, and dessert when I go. I'll have to go back soon and see if its how I remember it.

Did not like Halo either. Was dead in there too and it seemed like I was in an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

Ruge is one of the top resturants in the city, that would be at the top of my list. I would also suggest the river cafe, alloy, petit, and capo. All are super nice as far as ambiance and the food is top notch!

Side note as far a halo, I used to work there and being in the industy its not a great resturant. The food is ok and its not run by what i would call "professionals" as you would find at the places above. The menu is very mixed up for being a steak and seafood place. Glad i got outta there!
