Early models of these are legal now no? Has anyone seen any in Canada yet? Does anyone know of any companys with some coming/already here? Im interested in them but there doesn't seem to be many coming to Canada.

If I were importing a JDM AWD pocket rocket it would be an Evo instead of a Subie. There's no way I could leave it stock, and the 4g63 is just so much simpler to modify than that flat 4 nonsense. :D

Wouldn't be modifying a STi, personally love the sound of a flat four anyway.

Here is a cleaner one

I would also put pulsar GTI-Rs on my list if I were you, just another 2.0L turbo awd.

Body on that RA one looks pretty rough. Regardless I need to put the stock turbo back on my 180SX and sell it before I can think about a STi or WRX.

I would not go for ths first generation STi version.
Version 2 is made in 95 and has dccd. also available in version 2 is the v-limited GC8.

DCCD=driver controlled center diff? Any reason to avoid earlier ones other than not having that?

the dccd makes it worth it. version 2 has more hp/tq. The version 2 type RA is one the to get. has all the bells and whistles.

version one is handmade. the engine block is a closed deck.

Someone should repost the links in the www (dot) address (dot) com format so they don't get erased.

I think they were edited because you can't directly link non sponsor websites.

Fail. Hundreds of 2009 WRX's, Forresters, & Legacys on their second engine beg to differ.

this is true for JDM vehicles :)

Evos 1-3 develope the shitty gear grinds early on, even worse than the 3000gts,

evo 4's have that + almost 90% of them have yaw sensor failures...

at the same time almost all local 04-07 STis have a rebuilt or overhauled engine

STI 1-3 are awesome, you gotta pay 9k minimum though if you want one non-accident repaired and high grade

^ where do you get the info of 04-07 STi's have rebuilt engines? that is untrue. if you said 07 STi's I would agree.

Just what I've seen on the market, most of 02, 04 and 07s

The reality is that the EJ25 is a great engine stock and mildly modded but can't handle major power upgrades reliably.

I already know that. infact they are complete crap engines compared to an EJ207.

I am just pionting out that not all 04-07 STi's are prone to rebuilds or refreshes.

There are 800-900HP EJ25's now. cosworth blocks though.

Just like your 08 and up evo's having ring land problems , that crack pistons with a mild tune HeavyD.

Get what you Like every brand has its flaws and good points

Why not just buy a FWD impreza from the states and swap a 05 sti drivetrain in to it. More bang for buck

Stock/light mods are boring.

You are correct that the pistons can crack however wrong about the mild tune part. Haven't heard of anyone cracking pistons with mild tunes and I am a member of the forums. Pretty well all of them are from major tuning with meth and +30 psi spiking.

Here's the failure documentation thread;
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-x-engine-turbo-drivetrain-258/

Take a look. Most of them are from pushing the limits and poor tuning.
