Changing name on a plane ticket after purchase?

Can plane tickets that have already been issued be reissued in another persons name? Nothing else will change, just a different person will go instead. Anyone have experience with this? :dunno:

I don't ever remember changing a name, but I have purchased tickets to have my girlfriend fly before. I can't see it being a problem at all. You paid for the seat, I'm sure the airline does not care who sits in that seat.

From what I remember, to change a name, you have to cancel, get a credit. Some fee or percentage is deducted from the credit. Then you buy a second ticket. Airline profits :(
