Hey, an organization that I'm a small part of is in desperate need of Foster families for rescued dogs. My wife and I have been fostering dogs for a couple years now and it's been great, we ended up adopting one of them.

After approval you can decide how involved you want to be, you never have to take dogs, only when you can. The 10-12 dogs that we've personally fostered have all been adopted within a month which is enough time to help without getting overly attached.

If any of you are interested you can visit the website here... http://www.albertaanimalrescuecrew.com/index.php

Here are some of the puppies we currently have:

Mishka is definitely a good looking dog. The dog that we adopted is amazingly well behaved for what these guys go through in their early life, he even gets along with the cats.

Edit: Well except for when the cats try to kill him, haha.

If I was still in Calgary, in a heart beat. I've always wanted a Husky.

I'm actually amazed Mishka isn't gone already, I've seen how many applications come through for all of the dogs and even with the fairly stringent adoption standards there are usually 4 good families for the dogs. Getting them adopted doesn't seem to be the problem, it's when 60 puppies are picked up at a time and half the foster families are already full that the need for foster families becomes more apparent.

AARCS also does neutering and spaying on the reserves and brings loads of food and places it near likely hiding spots for the dogs. To me it seems one of the main focuses of the organization is preventing the population explosion.

I should add that I'm just a foster home so I don't speak for AARCS in any way.

Looking into it........
I guess I can't, my dogs have to be neutered.

Yes, they have to be neutered, after seeing how many dogs come through our organization, and then seeing how many organizations do this, you can see why they value neutering so much.

I personally have seen Mishka, My friend actually has her at his house right now as he is doing this animal rescue, I can personally say she is an amazing dog, Very lovable, Loves to get pets and loves attention! She truly deserves a good home!

Once you see her youd fall in love with her! I really hope she goes to a good home! I would love to do this myself when i move out!

I wonder if they'll be ok if the dog is a male. Our female is spayed, our dobe still has his,.....nuts ha. We fostered a second intact male doberman before(private deal). It went really well, I still miss the bugger tho, loved his attitude.

Well the puppies on their webpage with mange can only be fostered in a no-pet home as it is contagious to other pets until cured...

Also curious if they would let you foster a male dog or a fixed female with an existing intact male already in your home?

The dogs on the site aren't all of the dogs they have right now, I believe they have 64 dogs right now including the puppies they just picked up with mange.

I think they are fairly strict on the neutering rule for their own reasons.
