Yes, that's what I meant. I am from BC and they don't race every friday there so I was wondering about that as well.

Has anyone heard what the plans are for paving the facility?
I was there to watch last year, and it is in dire need of repair.

Probably let it go to hell for the remaining 2 years of the lease. I don't blame them, no sense putting a ton of money into maintenance if its closing is a sure thing.

Secret street is every friday, weather permitting.

There is money set aside for the track surface. I can not comment on dollar amounts yet as there were "sponsors" walking the track yesterday (March 16th) to see what was needed.
What I can say is that if there is nitro cars booked to run on Race City, there will be a major investment in the surface.

So really the only place that will get redone is the main straight that involves the 1/4 if the nitro cars booked to race.

Cool thanks for the info. I'm looking to take part in some of these events this year. Is there anything special I have to do to sign up or is it just like drag racing (show up, pay, tech and race)?

I heard that Track Techniques will be offering lap nights to its former students again. It looks like they're offering private track time too.

I can't wait for Secret Street!! I'm so glad Race City's surviving a bit longer!!

You have to sign up in order to race in the Solo I series. You usually sign/register up with the Calgary Sports Car Club on April 3rd.

Here is somemore info on fees, sign up process, etc.

Awesome thanks. Does the same thing go for Solo II (Auto-X) I think I may want to give that a shot first lol. Someone told me what with the Auto-X you don't actually have to be a member you can just drop in pay a fee and race for the day.

Yes, that is correct, you can usually drop in and pay a fee (usually 10 dollars more than what a member will pay). You dont have to sign up before hand but it is to your advantage as sometimes events do get full (especially the SASC events in calgary... capped at 35 cars).

The calgary sports car club holds most of their solo II events in Red Deer... they have a great venue there called Westerner Park. Dates and other info for the upcoming solo II season for the Calgary Sports Car Club (CSCC) can be found below:

http://cscc.speedracer.ca/forums/index.php/board,46.0.html

If you prefer to stay around Calgary, the Southern Alberta Sports Car Club (SASC) has events at the grey eagle casino. Like i said before, the venue is capped at 35 cars and gets full fairly quickly so drop ins are not likely to be taken. For info on dates check here:

http://sascsolo.ca/forums/index.php?showforum=11

Keep checking both fourms for sign up dates and updates. Both clubs usually post a link to a website where you can pre-register and book a spot.

Wow that's awesome thanks a lot for the info. I'll be sure to keep an eye on both sites as I really do want to get into this, this summer.

Friday Night Secret Street will probably start the beginning of May if the weather stays like this. I haven't had the chance to speak with Art yet, but that would be my guess.

I was also out at the track recently with rep's from the CDRA and AHRA and there will be track repairs done to the drag surface. I can't go into any details of those repairs, but it should be a way better surface than it has been lately.

nothing on website=no racing tonight.

I am guessing maybe a couple more weeks, they seem to be sorting out VHT issues:cry:

Damn, I could have sworn I saw a 60's muscle car a couple saturdays ago with race city numbers still on his rear window. I must have been mistaken.

Thanks for the info Mr ET.

I too thought that I saw numbers on an oncoming car the other week... Either the retard had not washed his windshield all winter, or he wrote them himself on the inside of his windshield.

:thumbsdow Honda driver.

Mr_ET

Maybe that was me lol, I hadn't washed the inside of the race car since last season and it still had my group and position showing :poosie:

Was it a red civic with too many stickers? :)

I want to have a grudge race, who hear hates me and wants to race a $80,000 car?

Haha, no wasn't red. It looked like a black prelude, winter driven and definitely not a track car.

I want to do some lap days this summer, but i have no idea how to get into it. Someone help me out.

My car is my weekend driver, no roll bar, no harness, no bucket seat. I just want to run around race city for the day with the least hastle.

Where do I start?

This is pointless because no drop-ins allowed. You will not be able to attend these unless you registered by the deadline which was weeks ago.

There are lots of cars out there that still have their #'s on windows.... not sure why you want to score attention from the cops.... but they leave them on. If you drove past Race City 2 Sat's ago... yes there were a couple of cars out on the drag strip. We were working the lanes and lights to get everything ready for Friday nights.

If you want to "lap" the roadcourse, you can always get 15-50 friends together and rent the track for a few hours if there's any dates/times left. You would need to purchase insurance however and that isn't very cheap.

My numbers are permanent on my car windshield & DS window & I get zero attention from the cops. That probably has more to do with driving it like a granny on the street than anything though. I've driven through Foothills at 11pm while the cops are pulling everything over with a licence plate & never been stopped.

If you've acquired the liscence either through the school at the start of the year or some other ARCA/CSCC approved course you can technically drop in.

We had quite a few people do that last year.

You don't remember the green gc8 subaru and Radu's Daytona?
