Does anyone know if any bakeries in Calgary make these, or if there is a supplier that makes these in mass for you?

All i get from a search of donuts is threads about cops.

Thanks

So I checked out the Glamorgan bakery website (http://baking.glamorganbakery.com) and they do have texas donuts; sprinkled and chocolate.

I'm planning to do this as a fundraiser at the University for my club so I'll give them a try.

urban.one,

At my elementary school it mostly a fundraising thing, we'd get a sheet, select our flavors, ended up being around 2 bucks a piece (back in the day)

The order would come in the lunch basket and your teacher would hand them out...extras were sold at the front by the office

MMMM mad sugar.

What the hell is a Texas donut? I've never heard of these LOL. Kind of like Chili's "Texas" Grill?

A texas donut is called a kolache. And Shipley's makes the best kolaches' in Texas.

yeah something around $1-$1.50, i remember there were always flyers around the school almost a month in advance and youd always be waiting in anticipation, just like the subway days, mini dominos days or peters drive in days (those were in elementary tho iirc). that day, 2 texas donuts and a milk was lunch lol

They were 1.50 to as high as 2 dollars during my elementary to jr high years...Best 8 years ever ;)

Little check boxes for flavours, Chocolate, Sprinkle, Vanillia, Maple...DONE!

Fun lunches FTW

I only had them in Jr. High.

But....

Am I the only one who thinks they taste like crap?..
Maybe it's only from my school but every time I had one they tasted so dry and nothing like the ones you'd get fresh in the morning @ Safeway or something.. I did not like the Texas donuts I had when I was younger.. Bleck..

So were texas donuts a calgary thing? If so how did they come about that all the schools used them? Were they from a single supplier? And what happened to them that they disappeared from schools?

So many questions
